While leading a pilgrimage to Italy earlier this year, Chris Stefanick met up with the mother of a SAINT—Antonia Salzano. Her son is Bl. Carlo Acutis, the first millennial to be named a saint. Yes, that means a PlayStation is now a second-class relic!
If you have never heard of him, Carlo was born in 1991, and had a profound love of Jesus and the Holy Eucharist. He was a daily Communicant, loved to serve the poor, but also played video games and designed a website documenting Eucharistic miracles and approved Marian apparitions! He died from complications from leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15, was beatified in 2020, and will be officially canonized as a saint on October 20, 2024.
Meeting Mrs. Acutis was an unforgettable experience. We discussed how Carlo’s piety and virtue really saved her, what Carlo was like as a child, his love of the Holy Eucharist, what his final months were like, and how it feels to be the mom of a saint.
Stay tuned to the end, where Mrs. Acutis shares some words of encouragement for parents who have lost children, and a special prayer through Carlo’s intercession to help us grow in love and reverence for the Most Holy Eucharist.
