Welcome to Metanoia Youth Ministry’s 2024-2025 school year! This fall we’re so excited to be starting a brand new series called Highway to Heaven: The Eucharist. The Church Teaches that the Eucharist is “The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life.” (CCC 1324). In preparation for our Eucharistic Congress this fall, we felt that it would be appropriate and timely to dive into this topic!
This week at Youth Group
This week at Youth Group we had the first of three talks focused on The Eucharist. This week our session was called “The Greatest Love Story”. We explored the story of Salvation using the four part Gospel messaged called The Kerygma. On the next page there is a depiction of the four point Gospel message with guiding images inspired by Saint Catherine of Sienna’s Bridge Analogy. We encourage you to talk to your teens about Youth Group in a deeper way than just “How was youth group”, “good”, “What did you do?”, “stuff”. In Small Groups we discusses the bridge analogy - so feel free to ask your teen about it!
The Kerygma
You were created for relationship with God. God created you, knows you, and loves you personally. He sees you as his child and he will never stop loving you.“See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are.” (1 John 3:1)
Sin has broken humanity’s relationship with God. The unity of this loving relationship we were created for has been damaged. Something has come between God and us: sin. We have all sinned and turned away from God in the things we have done or failed to do.
God has given us a Savior. God loves us so much that he could not bear to be separated from us. He sent his Son Jesus to restore our relationship with Him. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:16-17)
You can experience this restored relationship. Jesus desires to be at the centre of your life. Whether you have been close or far from him in the past, he is waiting for you to open the door. Would you like to invite Jesus to be at the centre of your life? If so, step out in faith and pray to him right now.
Take a moment to look at the following prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I believe that you know me and love me. I have not always chosen to love you, and have broken my relationship with you through my sins. Thank you for proving your love for me on the cross so that our relationship can be restored. I open the door of my heart and I invite you to be at the centre of my life – to be my Savior and my Lord. Direct me and help me to live the Gospel with my whole life. Amen.”
