Middle School Parent Sheet: November 3, 2025

Dear Parents,

This week we dive into what a saint is and is not, breaking down any misconceptions about sainthood. We use the following definition from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops: “Saints are persons in heaven (officially canonized or not), who lived heroically virtuous lives, offered their lives for others, or were martyred for the faith, and who are worthy of imitation.”

Consider asking your teen these questions to continue processing what was discussed in their small group:

  • What stood out to you from your time in small group?

  • What misconceptions do you have about sainthood?

  • What are some specific ways your perception of sainthood shifted?

COMMIT: Every session, group members accept a personal challenge to apply what was discussed to their everyday lives. This week, we committed to do one thing that is saintly. This can be something like performing a random act of kindness, making a small sacrifice for someone (like letting your sibling sit shotgun or letting someone else pick the music), or being heroically courageous and sharing with a friend about our faith. Next week, we’ll talk about what we did.

THEME SCRIPTURE

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us and persevere in running the race that lies before us while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the leader and perfecter of faith.

HEBREWS 12:1-2
