This week at Youth Group

This week Youth Group we talked about Personal Prayer where we highlighted how important a consistent prayer life is as we grow in our relationships with God.

Living a Christ-centred life is the atmosphere in which we hear Jesus speak to us. Imagine Jesus sitting with you at a coffee shop, directly across the table. It would be easy to hear his voice and engage in conversation because he is right there at the table with you.

If Jesus is outside or part of your life, it's like having him sitting at a different table across the room, or he's in a different shop altogether It would be much more difficult to have a conversation in this situation. A Christ centred life is the primary context in which we can hear Jesus speaking to us in prayer.

We talked about how Conversation with God is similar to a conversation with a good friend; you can expect they will listen and seek to understand what You are saying. Because they care for you, you can also expect they will respond with words of encouragement or counsel in a manner that you will be able to hear what they are saying.

We walked through a prayer method that is published in a booklet by André Regnier which is called How to have a Personal Prayer Time which is available online here. I would encourage you to take a look and try it out for yourself!

Looking Ahead - World Youth Day

Next week as a Church we celebrate the Solemnity of our Lord, Jesus Christ, King of the Universe (or Christ the King).

On this feast day... the Church proclaims the Kingdom of Christ, already present, but still growing in all its mystery towards its full manifestation ... young people are indispensable bearers of the dynamics of the Kingdom of God, the hope of the Church and the world. - St. John Paul II

Now, we won't be travelling anywhere for World Youth Day this year, instead we will be celebrating right here at Holy Trinity Parish! Hope to see you there!

Parade of Lights Trip

Metanoia Youth Ministry is going to the 2024 Parade of Lights downtown on December 8, 2024. We will be meeting at Holy Trinity Parish between 3:00-3:30 for hot chocolate before traveling by Halifax Transit bus Route 84 downtown to Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica. There is a permission form that will need to be signed and returned as soon as possible to the Parish.
